‘It’s easier to wash away stains than it is to bring up a good child’
Children are crafty creatures. One minute they’re clean, but take your eyes off them for just a second and you’ll find them covered in mystery muck the next.
But while it’s alarming to find your child caked in who-knows-what, believe it or not, it’s actually important for them to do so. Not just because it beefs up their immune system, but also because behind every scraped knee and stained white tee is a discovery.

Fallen Angels. True cost of sex tourism - 2 videos:

Philippine’s fatherless kids of Angeles City Streetwalkers

Angeles City in the Philippines is a well-known sex tourism destination. There used to be an American air base here, but now it’s popular among mainly retired men who travel in search of sex for sale. Hundreds of local young women work in the bars and night clubs offering additional services for the money they desperately need to make ends meet and feed their families.
The real victims though are the sex workers’ children, conceived by foreign travellers.

These children immediately stand out in the crowd, being of mixed-race here almost certainly means a child is the product of a liaison between a sex tourist and a call girl. They may stand out but they’re not unusual, within their communities there are many children of the sex trade.

The age of consent
The age of sexual consent in the Philippines is 12 for all, but contacts with minors (under 18) are an offence if the minor consents to the act for money, gain or any other remuneration or as the result of an influence of any adult person.
It's this that makes it effectively illegal for anyone over 18 to have sex with one under 18, Republic Act 7610, section 6

Voices of Children in Poor Communities

Speak Your Mind

Filipino chanteuse, Regine Velasquez takes time off her busy schedule to examine the issues surrounding "children in need of special protection", a term used by UNICEF to cover all those children in difficult circumstances. They are the abandoned children who need love and shelter. They are the abused children in need of protection from abuse and violence at home. They are the street children - living and/or working on the streets. They are the working little ones who risk life and limb in hazardous work environments. To explore the issues in depth, Regine visited the community in Payatas, one of the biggest garbage dumps in Manila and joined the street educators on the streets of Manila.

Child Marriage Violates girls’ human rights

Child marriage limits young girls’ skills, resources, knowledge, social support, mobility and autonomy. Young married girls have little power in relation to their husbands and in-laws. They are therefore extremely vulnerable to domestic violence, abuse and abandonment. Violence may include physical, sexual or psychological abuse.

How to Adopt a Child in the Philippines

Inter-Country Adoption Act of 1995 - RA 8034
Thinking of adopting a child? Here's how
by Aika Rey February 08, 2018

Close to 6,500 Filipino children are in need of a permanent home.

AboutPhilippines says: Many good informations

This is a public service announcement - Feb 23, 2015 - from DSWD - Department of Social Welfare and Development - Philippines:

Ever thought of adoption?

The government is hoping more potential parents will consider the option of legally adopting children who are in the care of private and public orphanages across the country.

There are 3 kinds of adoption in the Philippines:
•Agency adoptions: A licensed adoption agency identifies and develops adoptive families for children who are voluntarily or involuntarily committed. This is managed either by DSWD or licensed NGOs or child-placing agencies like the Kaisahang Buhay Foundation.
•Family or relative adoptions: The biological parents make a direct placement of the child to a relative.
•Private or independent adoptions: Can be a direct placement to a family known by the child’s biological parents or through someone who arranges family placements.

The DSWD, however, warns of "black markets" or illegal procedures wherein children are given up for adoption in exchange for cash or other means of profit.

When her mother fell ill last year, Aiza had to quit school and work full time to support the family and pay for her mother's medical bills. She is just one of almost 18,000 children who work in the small-scale mining and quarrying sector in the Philippines.

While the Philippine benefits from small-scale mining in the provinces, HRW says the industry must be rid of any and all elements that force children to live adult lives.
HRW found that both underground mines and underwater or compressor mines put the children at risk of injuries from mine collapse and drowning, respectively.
In compressor mining, some adolescent boys are made to stay underwater for several hours at a time in 10-meter-deep shafts.
